Some of the words people use about us are ‘evangelical’, ‘gently charismatic’, ‘holding to contemporary and traditional forms of church’ and ‘Bible believing’. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance. Putting it simply and briefly is not easy, but like all true Christian churches we believe that there is one God who has revealed himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus the Son is the head of the church, and the Bible is the best way to find out about him. We believe he died on the cross for our sins and rose again from the dead on the third day. Everyone needs to experience Jesus for themselves in order to know God and be sure of going to heaven (to be saved). The Holy Spirit is given to enable us to be Jesus’ faithful and effective followers.
Every genuine follower of Jesus Christ becomes a part of his Church across the world. The Bible shows us that believers also belonged to local churches. Christians who make South Parade their home express this through a formal commitment to church membership and through this are able to take a more active involvement in shaping the church’s life and witness. Though you don’t have to be a member to belong among us, we encourage those who are committed to us to take this step of membership. |
